What I Wore: Work Travel Style

From time to time I travel for my job, attending company meetings, photo shoots and everything in between. To keep transit speedy, I try to pack light to avoid checking luggage. That extra hour in line at the airport could mean I miss an important meeting!

When preparing to travel, I always try to pack light while fitting everything possible into my carry-on luggage. Although it’s not always the best way to pack business attire, traveling with fewer bags keeps flying less complex.

When packing business-wear for my meetings, my biggest trick is to pack dresses. A one-item-outfit keeps traveling simple. With dresses, all you need is a cute necklace, a wicked pair of shoes, a poppin’ lipstick – and you’re all set! You look put together with only a few minutes of effort.

On my latest business trip, I challenged myself to pack dresses ONLY…and it totally worked! Every morning my prep time was cut down significantly, which allowed me to get to all my meetings with time to spare.

During my travels, I was able to snap two quick pictures of my dresses from Goodwill that were under $10.

Carolyn sports a Trina Turk mini dress found at Goodwill

This first is a Trina Turk batwing dress. Known for her colorful patterns, this high-end designer is typically sold at places like Neiman’s and Bloomingdale’s. When the skies were gray on the day I wore this number, this retro-inspired beauty had me feeling bright and cheerful.

Carolyn wears a simple, black American Apparel dress found at Goodwill
I rocked this simple, black, American Apparel dress to a business casual meeting. Paired with a pop of lip color and fun jewelry, this find was SO easy to style.

Fashionistas, what are your tips and tricks for traveling with ease and style when traveling for business?
