What I Wore: Statement Pants

I’m on a roll when it comes to vintage pants! Last week, I showcased a museum look featuring vintage pants scored at a monthly DC Goodwill Meetup.

I hit the jackpot AGAIN at last month’s Manassas, VA Meetup when I found these flowy, 80’s wide-leg pants. Originally spotted by another fashionista, these $5 pants were hanging lonely on the “put-back” rack. As soon as I heard the leopard print calling my name, I knew I had to try them on – and VOILA! They fit like a charm! Although a bit long, I cut and hemmed these to become the perfect length for my petite frame.

What I love most about these beauties is they’re extremely comfortable. And by comfortable, I mean it feels like my legs are draped in a soft blanket. They’re THAT cozy!

Another reason why I love these pants is that they’re easy to style. With a layered black look on top and a pop of color on the lip, you can create an effortless retro-inspired look in minutes.

To make the pants the focal point of this look, I simply snagged a black top from my closet, snatched a structured black blazer and styled everything with a pair of black boots. You could add more colorful pieces, but I chose to take inspiration from Chanel.

Even as a self-proclaimed pattern maven, I believe classic prints matched with basic colors are often just enough to compose a show-stopping look that will make people admire your sense of style.
