What I Wore: Mother’s Day Edition

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day, fashionistas! The weather in DC finally cleared up, showing the way for a sunny and graceful holiday.

For our Sunday brunch I decided to rock a semi-vintage inspired look. It contained a classic, black, off-the-shoulder top and a tea length skirt printed with a lovely floral pattern. As always, most of the pieces in my look came from DC Goodwill stores.

As a petite girl, long skirts make me a little nervous because they sometimes make me look shorter than I am. However, I found this particular skirt from Choies more flattering because the high waist elongates my body.

Because my skirt was so bright, I decided to use Lou Lou jewelry as a way to be playful and balance the mix of colors. Instead of wearing a brightly colored necklace, I opted for one with a charcoal, gray, neutral color scheme. The colors didn’t compete with the ones in the skirt and the glitz adds a pop of sparkle and edge.

Even my sunnies are from Goodwill! The vintage inspired J Crew sunnies are a tad on the preppy side for me but their classic flair had me falling in love at the Gaithersburg Goodwill store.

To tie my Mother’s Day look together I decided to wear my practically new, AND new to me, Chinese Laundry, metallic, lavender wedges. At first, I was going to wear brightly colored shoes, but I found these gems to act as another calm neutral to add to my look that allowed my skirt to further shine. Even though they are  a neutral pastel, the glittery lavender color still adds a slight amount of a pizzazz to what would be a very classic shoe.

Are you curious to know where each name brand item came from in my look? Here’s the scoop! Everything from Goodwill added up to below $35. For these brands, that’s impressive!
