Trends to Try – Lacy Details

Let us all take a moment and thank Mother Nature for finally getting her life in order here in the DMV. Spring is finally upon us and I have a the perfect trend to breathe some fresh air into your warmer weather wardrobes.

I have a sweet spot when I’m shopping – I am drawn towards the classic, timeless pieces. Think lace, pearls, clean lines, black staples. This year, lace has been all over the runways and red carpets. Did you catch this article from US Weekly? Lace is on the forefront of women’s fashion – and I can assure you, it doesn’t have to cost upwards of $1,500! On my recent trip to the South Dakota Avenue Goodwill Store in DC, I spotted several pieces of fun spring fashion with lace details that will keep your outfits looking fun, feminine, and fresh!

navy blue lace long sleeve top (Banana Republic - $5.99 at Goodwill) with bell sleeves
Bold and Unique

This first piece was a navy blue lace long sleeve top (Banana Republic – $5.99 at Goodwill) with bell sleeves. I am certain you all are well aware that bell sleeves are SO in right now. You cannot step foot into a store or flip through a fashion mag without seeing them.

The second piece was a beautiful bold pink peplum lace top (Issac Mizrahi for Target – $5.99 at Goodwill). This is an incredibly flattering top for all body types. Whether you are looking to create waistline curves, or accentuate the ones you’ve got – peplum is a perfect way to do so. Both of these tops would be the perfect partner to a crisp pair of white pants (you could do white jeans for a casual look or white ankle-length trousers for a dressier look).

Potter's Pot White Lace Top

Potter’s Pot White Lace Top

Staple White

All gals need a classic white lace blouse in their wardrobe. It’s feminine, timeless and versatile. This first top I took home because I loved it that much! It is by Potters Pot ($5.99 at Goodwill). It’s a super lightweight cotton fabric with adorable floral lace detailing.

You can pair these crisp whites and ivory tops with bright chino shorts, dark denim skinnies and maybe even some bold ankle pants for work (remember my post from a couple weeks back about spring transitional pieces? This type of top would be a perfect pair to a “Bold Bottom”).

Blush lace top

FUN(ctional) Dress

While I was trend-spotting in Goodwill, I couldn’t pass up sharing this adorable light-knit sweater dress with you. This piece is a perfect example of a transitional piece for spring. It will keep you warm on a chilly morning but won’t make you sweat to death. The blush color is soft and subtle for spring. Pair something like this with a cute espadrille or open-toed bootie for a sweet spring look.

Are you adding lace to wardrobe this season? Until next time, my fashion lovers!
