Thinking of Spring Ankara Zebra Maxi

Today’s #MyGoodwillFind has me thinking about summer temperatures and the California sun. The silky texture, the zebra print….it’s tropical vibes are infectious.

If only this dress fit me, it’d be in my closet instantly. It would have become my ultimate summer beach staple, but luckily, it can become yours!

This California brand, Ankara, is a zebra maxi dress with brand new tags in a size small. It originally retails for $80 at a local boutique. The style of this beauty hits one’s toes and is designed to be tied in the back in an intricate manner.

To touch the dress feels like buttery silk but is 100% polyester and flows when there a slight breeze.

When you think of maxi dresses, your last thought is to wear them in the winter. I agree they’re a summer dress. The fabric is lighter, the shape is flowier….everything about them screams warmer temperatures. However, today I’m going to break a fashion rule and suggest you try wearing today’s #MyGoodwillFind in the winter.

Despite its silky feel, it’s the perfect dress for layering on a date or casual day outing.

Since the fabric is on the lighter side, I’d wear a gray or neutral colored duster or over-sized cardigan to echo the flow of this dress. It will also add much-needed winter warmth. What’s fabulous about dusters is that they’re thinner in fabric, making them easy to be worn under a jacket, like a motorcycle jacket.

Winter Maxi Style

Now, let’s talk footwear. Usually, you’d wear gladiators with this style of dress, but not for winter! I think a cool colored bootie or lace-up black flat will pair nicely with the maxi style. They both will keep those toes warm and can be worn with a pair of dark tights if needed. Lace-up flats have been all the rage this season (I have two pairs myself), so this might be the perfect look to start rocking your pair with. Especially since the lace-up will match the lace backing of this maxi!

Finally, we all know this dress needs some bling. Just like with the flowing cardigan, I’d opt to wear a pair of dangly gold earrings with this maxi. Something that exudes tropical weather but isn’t too beachy.

How would you style this summer maxi for winter temperatures, fashionistas?
