Fashionista Friday: @gotitatgoodwill’s salvaged J.Crew sweater

@gotitatgoodwill on InstagramYou’re following the DCGF on Instagram, right? No pressure. But, we’re Instagram friends, riiiight? One of my favorite Instagram users is @gotitatgoodwill, which chronicles a local teacher’s Goodwill scores from stores in the DC area.

If there’s one person more mysterious than our DCGF avatar, it’s @gotitatgoodwill. But while we can’t see her face, we can see a ton of great outfits—some completely designed from the Goodwill racks.

My favorite so far is shown here. Atop a vibrant green striped shirt, she layered a pretty purple scarf. Wait, is it a scarf? The caption:

This #purple scarf is actually a #jcrew sweater I got at#dcgoodwill. It shrunk in the wash and rather than toss it, I’m using it as an infinity scarf.

You’d never know that this scarf was really a sweater. I suspect @gotitatgoodwill tucked the sleeves inside the sweater before placing it over her head and arranging it. It’s pretty much the easiest DIY ever. No scissors required.

I love that this laundry day gone wrong turned into a repurposed Goodwill piece. To our mysterious Instagram fan, please keep inspiring us! You’re certainly a Fashionista.

P.S. Are you following me on Instagram? I’m @thedcgf!

Wow! Her finds are amazing!! Such a great idea to turn shrunken sweaters into accessories. I will definitely have to try this; maybe I will make some headbands with shrunken sweater sleeves. Thanks for the inspo!!
