Guest Blogger: Summer, Sunshine, Sandals, Sexy!!!!

Without sweaters, coats, gloves, scarves or any other heavy winter layers to worry about, summer is the one time of the year when you can slip on a sexy sun dress and let your accessories complete you look.

It’s getting warm by the day, so time for sandals and showing off your pretty feet. But remember, you can’t slide them on and walk out the door just yet!

Here are a few essentials tips to consider when it comes to wearing sandals this summer.

  • Green is hot this season.  It also represents nature, a desire for increase, or simply the color of money.  During a quick trip to the local DC Goodwill store I found two amazing pairs of green sandals for less than $10. How about that? The wedge ankle-strap sandal features a woven platform, which looks great with casual sundresses and linen pants or a pair of short shorts to show off those toned legs.  The 3″ wedge heel is not only easy to walk in, but is an effortless way to add height for a gal lacking height like my 5′ 3″ self.
  • I also found this unique slide with a handmade lacquer heel, which is perfect for a night out where you don’t have to be walking too much or just want to look pretty while sitting or standing.  Pair it with a tissue-hem dress for the perfectly balanced look or with a sexy bias cut silk or rayon dress in black, white, or tan color.  Oh by the way, remember to lotion your feet lightly so you don’t slip out of your slippers and hurt yourself. That would not be a pretty sight!
  • Last but not least, take care of your feet by getting regular pedicures and exfoliation if you plan on wearing open-toe shoes this summer.  Make sure your toenails are polished, too.  I suggest wearing clear, nude, or a light metallic color such as gold, silver, or bronze. Wearing open-toe shoes make a woman feel sexy, more relaxed, and feel more feminine.

Here is a hot red wedge that I designed in 1999 from my sample collection. It’s still as stylish today, but obviously when wearing these, your whole foot is exposed, so make sure your toes are polished and clean looking. When wearing shoes as red as this, I recommend wearing either a red polish that is a perfect match or nude color the same tone as your skin.  Both will look classic and sexy, and trust me, will draw attention to the men, too.   In general, my favorite looks for summer pedicures are fiery red – which goes with everything – or a shimmery sheer or nude tone.  If polish isn’t your thing, then get your nails buffed to a high sheen and add a bit of cuticle oil, which instantly prettifies your feet.

I often get asked for tips on how to look, be, and feel polished every day and I always say this: look, think, and act as if you already are. If you do so, you will be.

Timeless, feminine, and stylish, these warm-weather sandals should make you stand tall and feel more empowered.  Be confident in yourself and let it shine through – from your fingers to your toes!  Let me know if you have any questions and I am happy to help.
