Fashionista Friday: Jewel’s Ocean Blue Ruffles

Happy Friday, fashionistas! I’m going to the beach for the weekend and to kick off my time there I wanted to share a Fashionista Friday whose outfit reminds me of ocean blue waves.

Meet Jewel! She is a Nebraska Goodwill goddess who is an excellent photographer and stylist. She loves to sew and make her own clothing while mixing in items from stores like Goodwill into her daily looks.

I found Jewel on Instagram using a #Goodwill. You can read more about her crafty couture on her blog.

I love thrifting…this trip to Texas (to see my nephew!!) I totally botched packing. (I didn’t make my detailed packing list!!🤦🏼‍♀️) Anyways, Friday at #goodwill I found this $8 top that works great with my self-drafted reversible skirt! (Swipe to see the back view) Much better than the gray t-shirt I packed and really didn’t want to wear today! ☺️ I also found two other items of #GoodwillGold I’ll share with you soon! 😄 / You can see the process of making a basic A-line pattern into the reversible skirt on my blog a couple posts down. I can’t believe she found this unique and gorgeous top for only $8! My favorite part about this sleeveless top, besides the color, is the detailing of the construction that adorns the front while the ruffle goes to the back shoulder. This 360 detailing keeps one’s eye moving all throughout her look.

Sometimes with clothing I find brands make the effort on the front of a top but then forget the back is a canvas too. That’s what makes this blouse an especially rare find.

Thanks, Jewel, for sharing your find with us online! I can’t wait to see how you pair other handmade pieces with items from your local Goodwill stores.
