Fashionista Friday: Cherisse’s Striped Summer Trunk Show Score

Fashionistas, to end the week of DC Goodwill event recaps and memories, I wanted to conclude the week showcasing this dynamite and fashionable Friday Fashionista, Cherisse!

I’ve seen Cherisse on Instagram for many months now, following all of her fun event posts and unique outfits. She’s been a fan of the DCGF page for some time, and I was incredibly excited and ecstatic to meet her at last week’s yearly Edited Summer Trunk show at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery.

On the opening night at the VIP exclusive showcase, I met Cherisse at my clothing rack, perusing the gems and exploring the venue. We had a delightful conversation and as the event came to a close, I noticed that she walked out with an armful of unique finds, including some from my curated rack!

Last week online, Cherisse shared one of her DCGF rack finds, a funky striped short sleeved dress, that she wore to a performance at the Kennedy Center.

Not only am I in love with this mini dress itself, but I’m even more head over heels with how she styled it!

If I owned this dress, I would have never thought to wear to with bright red tones. It’s not a color that I wear often, because I never know how to put it together with other clothing items. I’m always asking myself what colors it would look good with, because I think it looks bright. But Cherisse shows us how it’s done right!

As I’m seeing here, bright red will look absolutely splendid and not too over the top with muted tones and patterns such as this neutral blue. On top of that, I’ve learned that the red is supposed to be a statement color, only to be worn as pops throughout a look. Never wear it as the base color of your outfit canvas.

Thanks Cherisse for not only supporting the DCGF in general, but also shopping from my rack! I’m glad to now have you as a friend – I have a lot of styling tips to learn from you! <3
