Casual Sunday Taking Vintage Cues

For a Sunday filled with errands and activities, I like to keep it comfortable and casual with a dash of flare. You never know who you’ll run into while shopping for groceries or going to the DMV – you could meet your next best friend! So while I am out making my way across the town, I do like to look a tad put together so that when I do have an unexpected encounter, I’m wearing some snazzy clothes to make a good impression.

And this past Sunday, I rocked one of the those very comfy, yet, chic outfits! Typically when I put any of my looks together, I like to combine items of various decades to create a unique and original look. In this ensemble, I’m mixing a poppin’ 80’s and 90’s color with a modern twist.

vintage Goodwill look

Sometimes while shopping at Goodwill, I like to look in the kid’s section for adult and vintage finds. That’s where I found this red & white boatneck polka dotted sweater! It’s my new favorite piece of clothing this season.

For bottoms, I threw on a pair of basic skinny denim from the Brooklyn, New York Goodwill paired with my new-to-me classic high-top and all-black Reeboks. When purchasing these, the cashier told me these were one of the comfiest shoes of the 80’s. I was instantly sold! And he was right. For errands, these shoes felt like stylish pillows.

And finally, to add a few more vintage cues, I styled this look with big pieces of gold jewelry including my chain belt and door-knocker hoops. When an outfit of mine sometimes feels like there’s something missing, I do a little experimentation and throw on items like a vintage chain belt. Although this type of accessory isn’t usually sold at mass retailers, it can add a detail to your look that’s both vintage, fun and original. I find them at Goodwill all of the time!

Curious to know the breakdown of my look? I’d be happy to share where everything came from! My outfit consisted of:

Red vintage boat neck sweater: Vintage, under $5 Gaithersburg Goodwill

Blue high-waisted jeans: American Apparel, under $7, (Originally $60+), Brooklyn Goodwill

Gold chain belt: Vintage, under $4,  Alexandria Goodwill

Black vintage shoes: Reebok, under $5, Bowie Goodwill

Gold earrings: Claire’s

Outfit total (Goodwill items): Under $25! Oh, my!

Talk about a steal! This look would have originally been $300+!

What are your thoughts on cozy, lazy, yet, trendy vintage look, fashionistas?
