Guest Blogger: Arm Swag

arm swag

I take my jewelry cues from Mr. T. and clothing isn’t the only thing I’ll be layering this season. You see, I have a mild obsession with what I call “arm swag.” As the name implies, it’s a party on your arm. Sparked by my growing collection of bracelets, I noticed that I loved them more when they were stacked on my wrist and accompanied by a bold watch.

Fortunately, my collection expanded organically and pieces were scored from thrift stores, estate sales and friends.  My arm swag is more sentimental than fashionable, and my favorite pieces are my friendship bracelets, silver bangle given to me by a friend and silver cuff I found at a local thrift store.  Like curating art, I only invest in pieces that are meaningful and make a solid contribution to my collection.  Pretty deep for some bracelets, eh?

Wanna create your own arm swag?  Consider the following…

1.  Mix the Hi with the Low: No need to invest in high-end name brands, let your personal style, not designer labels, create your arm swag’s theme.

2.  Chose things that have a story behind them: I purchased one of my friendship bracelets for $2.99 at an amusement park’s gift shop during a family vacation. Every time I look down at my wrist I’m reminded of my little sister bravely volunteering to hold a baby alligator.  I love my more expensive jewelry, but they don’t make me feel nearly as warm and fuzzy inside.

3.  Watches are key: Bracelets are cool, but a good watch is epic.  My arm swag would be nothing without the addition of a bold watch.

Now go forth and get swagged out…trust me, your arm will thank you.
