The military-inspired trend never seems to go away in total (not that I want it to).  As such, it’s being revamped and reinterpreted for Fall 2010 in a softer, more feminine style.  I’m digging it.  What do you think?

Catherine Malandrino Jersey Dress

Ooooh, sexy.  Ruching is ultra-feminine and kind of disguises any figure flaws under all those wrinkles and folds.  Thank you, ruching.  And I love the one shoulder style of this dress.  Olive greens goes pretty and soft in a jersey fabric.  $345 at Net-a-Porter, not too bad.  Check out those Charlotte Olympia shoes, too!  I love the gold heel.  Very over-the-top.

Elizabeth and James Corset Top

There’s nothing sexier than a corset in my opinion.  And this one doesn’t disappoint.  I’ve been very impressed with the Olsen twins’ line, Elizabeth and James.  It’s edgy, interesting and does not look like anything from their TV days.  I would venture to say that they have real talent for fashion design.  Go on, girls!

Alice & Olivia Wrapped Chiffon Dress

Gawgeous!  The chiffon overlay is such a beautiful design touch.  More ruching, more one-shoulder, two other strong ongoing trends that I love.  They call it the Goddess dress, and I can see why.

Alexander Wang Cutout Top

This Alexander Wang fellow is really something, isn’t he?  I can’t get enough of his downtown chic designs (although his dresses do NOT fit me… at all).  The cutouts on this shirt are so hot.  Actually, I could see myself wearing this shirt today, when it’s approaching 105 degrees outside.  A little cooling action on my sides would be fine with me.  And it’s on sale, 50% off at Shopbop, too.  So, he’s got the designs down, now he just needs a proper fit model.  The size 10 I tried on was impossibly tight in the waist, and the chest and hips were enormous.  Or maybe I need to get a rib removed.  (not)

I like this trend because olive green can be worn as a basic, like tan or grey, which makes it very versatile.  I also like the addition of the ultra-feminine details to the otherwise masculine military trend.  I’m not quite ready for Fall, but I will keep this in mind as I plan my wardrobe investments.
