Will chambray still be “in” this spring? Serious question. I finally bit the fad and got myself a little chambray number—for a bargain, of course!
On a recent trip to the Glebe Road store, I grabbed this Old Navy chambray button-up for just under $5. The retail price wouldn’t have been much more, but this shirt was in great condition and was probably worn just once or twice before it was donated. $5 is just about what I like to spend when it comes to a fad!
This shirt is thin, but not quite sheer. It’s slightly iridescent, and has awesome roll-up sleeves for that campy look.
If you need a little convincing that a reluctant fashionista can pull off this look for spring (or maybe right now!), take a look at the outfits I imagined below. I used online items similar to things in my own closet to create two realistic, easy-to-wear looks:

On the left, you see a super-casual, comfy look for right now. The hem of the chambray shirt will hang out from under the cropped sweater. Boyfriend jeans, low “moto” boots, and a slouchy hat make this outfit great for running errands or an afternoon at the movies.
On the right is an ensemble that would work for a casual business meeting. Don’t you love the splash of Pantone’s Color of the Year on the necklace and pumps? The bright belt will provide one last pop of color, since the chambray top will be buttoned and tucked!
Remember that you don’t have to spend a pretty penny to get these looks. Check out the racks at your local Goodwill—you can usually find the look for much less!
P.S., my fashionistas: take a tip from Wardrobe Oxygen to make your button-up + sweater layering work better!
Are you still into chambray?
