Benae's Goodwill dress

Benae wasn’t shy when she showed off a picture of her New Year’s Eve ensemble. After all, she said she had a blast dancing the night away in it! Her sequined dress was matched with subtle shoes and tights, and I have to say she looked like a million bucks. Would anyone have guessed her dress was from Goodwill?

Indeed, she picked up this bargain beauty at Edited for Goodwill last month. She wrote,

“There’s a short split on each side, which made it really hard for me not to shimmy. It’s by Lillie Rubin. The best part…it cost $15.98!”

If you’re not familiar with the label, Lillie Rubin is certified vintage. The chain out of Florida offered special occasion dresses and formal wear from the mid-1940s until 1990, when the company was bought by Cache. Benae wasn’t sure when this dress was made, but I think the mid 1980s would be a safe bet.

There’s a lot that makes this dress special, from the asymmetrical hemline to the sheer polka-dot panel at the collar. But the copper-on-black combination keeps things from getting too wild, and our Fashionista looks both elegant and fun.

Here’s another look at the details:

This vintage dress is seriously solid…it looks like every single sequin is intact and ready to party!

Benae, you’re definitely a Fashionista. Thanks for sharing this amazing find with us—keep up the good work!
