Holiday nail polish collection honors some unlikely characters

OPI Holiday Collection 2011You say “Muppets,” I say “Big Bird.” Same family, different generation—this time we’re talking about the original green guy and his girlfriend. That’s right, Kermit and Miss Piggy and the Muppets from The Muppet Show of mid-70s fame. The gang reunites this fall in a new Disney movie, The Muppets.

To get you into high spirits that will last through the holiday season, OPI‘s holiday collection bows down to none other than our lifelong friends, the Muppets. You’ll have 12 shades to choose from starting in November.

What suits you best? Is it mossy, glitter-flecked “The Fresh Frog of Bel Air”? “Designers De Better” in shimmering winter white?

I wasn’t thrilled when I read about this collection (remember, I’m a little more Big Bird than Fozzie Bear), but I’ve been chewing on these colors for a few hours. The red hues are perfect for the holidays, and the muted gold (“Warm and Fozzie”) is a fun, but neutral shade.

But I have a feeling we’re supposed to love the bottom row of glittery polishes, and I’m over the moon for them. “Rainbow Connection” makes me a bit nervous—it’s like confetti in a bottle—but I’m thinking it might be perfect for New Year’s Eve or a similarly-festive night.

Go ahead and use those summer shades as long as you can. (I may or may not have cerulean toenails at the moment.) This post exists solely to prepare you for the shades that are waiting for you later this year. Enjoy!
