FLW Outdoors and Goodwill Essay Contest

Psss…hey gals.  Is your husband or boyfriend or brother or dad or son looking away? Okay, good.  ’Cause we have something just for you today.  We’re taking a quick break from our regularly scheduled fashion programming to let you know that Goodwill has partnered with FLW Outdoors to offer up a great contest!

Now through June 1st, we’re accepting YOUR essays – not to exceed 100 words – that answer the following question:  “Why should the sportsman in my life be chosen to go fishing with a pro angler?“ All entries should be emailed to the DC Goodwill Fashionista at  by 5PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. One winner will be chosen from all qualified entries to go fishing with pro angler, Chad Grigsby or another pro angler on June 4, 2011, for a minimum of one hour at or near National Harbor, MD.  The person who submits the winning entry will receive a $50 Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store gift certificate.  How awesome is that?

Award-winning angler Chad Grigsby of Maple Grove, MN returns for his third season as the Goodwill® ambassador.

It’s Goodwill’s third season with Grigsby as our Goodwill ambassador, who sports the Goodwill jersey and Smiling G logo at FLW Outdoors tournaments across the country. Track our award-winning angler throughout the season. And follow his lead by donating to Goodwill.

Bring your donations to any of the Walmart FLW Outdoors tournaments (click here for the schedule) during the Outdoor Expo on Saturdays and Sundays. And bring the whole family! The event is free and open to the public. Can’t attend? Don’t see an event in your area? You can also take your gently used donations to your local Goodwill.

The tournament will be at National Harbor, MD, from June 2 through 5, so mark your calendar and grab your fishing vest!  We can’t wait to receive your essays, and if you’re looking for that creative inspiration, check out the video below to see how your donations turn in to jobs…

Here’s some of the fine print:

• All entries should be emailed to the DC Goodwill Fashionista at  by 5PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
• Along with the essay, all entries must include the following information:  Name of person submitting nomination, their email address, telephone number and street address, as well as name of nominee, age of nominee, their email address and telephone number.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to submit nomination and/or win contest.
