What A Girl Wants

For those of you jonesing for your weekly Fashion of Goodwill fix, have no fear! I’ll have an all-new runway to retail look tomorrow for your sartorial satisfaction. Can you believe the virtual runway shows launches in just eight short days? I’m so excited!

In the meantime, let’s peruse a few more spring shirts, skirts, and shifts, shall we? (You know you love the DCGF’s alliterations!) Yesterday’s shows featured ultra-feminine frocks in florals and other prints. They were fun and whimsical…but will we actually want to wear them come spring? Take a look at a few for yourself…

Betsey Johnson: Little Bo Peep on Platforms

Marc by Marc Jacobs: Mad Milkmaid

Rodarte: Futuristic Flower Child

Monique Lhuillier: Ethereal Embroidery

I’m not mad at these clothes, dear readers, I’m just not very inspired by them, you know? It’s all very pretty and whatnot, but – like the Vivienne Tam show last night – there’s nothing that seems to be encouraging me to think differently about dressing next spring. Don’t get me wrong: the DCGF doesn’t need anybody telling dictating her wardrobe! These fashion weeks, though, are supposed to set the tone for the stylistically inclined masses and give us a picture of something new and engaging, the likes of which we have not before seen.

Instead, I’m kind of like…meh. I’ve been scanning through nearly every show, desperately trying to pick a “favorite look” of the week so far, but I can’t! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that today’s Phillip Lim show (I’m so excited!) will provide that much needed infusion of inspiration and excitement this Fashion Week so desperately needs…
